I was teaching, Grade 13 at the time, a social
justice course. And this, growing awareness of the
social problems and the social needs in our
society, brought a strong desire, that kept
growing, to work for social justice; to get
involved with people in the community, whose needs
are not being addressed.
Receiving the Order of Ontario, helps me to realize
that, I and my many colleagues, in refugee, work in
Essex County have indeed made an impact. I can't
claim this award on my own, because in networking
with colleagues throughout Essex County is the only
way to have a genuine impact on the lives of
refugee claimants.
