In this video we will focus on getting your Ferris computing ID and initial password
If you already know this information you can skip to the next videos
We will start from the Ferris State main homepage: ferris.edu
It is important that you get your Ferris computing ID set up in order to access MyFSU
Through this student portal, the university will communicate you about
student activities, financial aid, class times and cancellations
Click on the top right corner on the link to MyFSU
If this is your first time setting up your student account you will need your get your ID student information
To set up your challenge questions and to create a new password
First lets find out how to get your personal student information
Click on ID and password help. You will find a link to look up Ferris ID and click on the student section.
Now enter your student ID number
You can find your ID number in the acceptance notice that you got from Ferris State University.
Enter your birthdate with your format indicated
You will see your unique computing ID that will be also your username in MyFSU portal
You will be also given a gmail student address that you will be able to acess through MyFSU
And finally you are given and initial password that you can change as you follow me through the next videos
Lets return to MyFSU portal and click on ID and password help
Click on set up my challenge quesitons
a pop up window will appear, type your unique username followed by @student.local
This address is used only to direct you to the student database and you will not need it when you log in into My FSU portal later on
Enter your given initial password
You are only required to answer three quesitons
Make sure you will remember the answers to your reset your password
now you will be able to change your password which is explained in the next video
Now that you have your username in hand
and your challenge questions in the system
you should be able to reset your password
Go back to ID and password help under MyFSU portal
click on Change my Initial password and now
Enter your ferris computing ID followed by @student.local
You will be taken directly to a link that requires you to answer two of your personal challenge questions
Finally you can enter your new password. Make sure it includes
at least 8 characters, a captial, a lower case, and a number
Now, you can try your new password
