Thirty families living in Musgueira, in Lisbon, have accepted Help-Portrait's challenge.
They posed in an improvised studio photography. The event was produced by volunteers,
including photographers, with support of sponsoring companies.
It was "a great day at the studio".
Help-Portrait is an event that gathers photographers,
who give portraits instead of taking protraits... That's what Help-Portrait is all about.
Noone is here to build a photo portfolio. All volunteers are here for a single purpose:
to make people smile through photography.
In today's world, not many things makes us smile
but the portrait of the people we love does it. Therefore it is priceless.
I am so proud! I think you can read it in my face!
I never thought it was going to be so perfect.
Today it is very easy to make a photo. And that easiness makes us give little importance
to this good. And I think that this chance to get a photo taken with extra care
really makes us to keep a memory that lasts forever. I believe that these frames
will be hung on the wall of their homes for many years. And whenever we look at them
we will remember this experience. A unique experience because
it won't happen again the same way even if we do it again.
I remember last year's edition. A 7 or 8 year old child who took the portrait with her mother
and could not hide her anxiety to see the end result in the evening.
When we hand her the frame, she immediatly smiled - almost cried as she was so happy -
and left away embracing the portrait as if she was embracing her own mother.
We take pictures at home but they are not professional -- they are homemede.
But do you have many? Yes, we have many.
Yes, we like it and one of the girls wants to be a photographer!
I visit photo exhibitions whenever I can. I like watching portfolios on the web
and whenever I have a camera nearby... I like it so much.
This is fun. It is better that what I expected. Lots of people... and it is good they made it
here in our district.
Do you see this one? Try to make it with a smile. No, not that way...!
One should never delete a photo. I am not used to this...
It is hard to keep smiling all the time.
Are you going to publish the portrait on Facebook?
- No. I don't use Facebook. - Perhaps I will.
There is something amazing about this. All volunteers understand the value of it.
All the people portrayed obviously understand the value of it.
But also the companies to whom we ask for support. No company has replied with a "no".
We had no answers, but never a "no". And we have the support of photo sector companies,
namely the Colorfoto store who has been with us since the very first day.
I am a make up artist. This is what I do everyday.
It was great as always. I love participating in this event. We give so much of ourselves.
Everybody is beautiful and all I do is to make that beauty be even more evident.
For me every person is beautiful.
I love it. We could have done this in the past but we didn't...
It was fun!
All the moments are supposed to be registered.
It lifts our ego. For sure.
It was a stressful day but it was so nice. We've met great people. People who love photography,
people who have dreamed of a portrait but did not have it yet. Today they accomplished
the dream of having a portrait with friends or family.
When I grow up I want to be a photographer.
It was great. Let it happen again in the future!
This helps people forget the crisis we live in.
This is like a Christmas gift. A great one and I am so proud!
We can't afford Christmas gifts... This is a great one.
