Hi, I am Doctor Filardo and I am certified in acupuncture. We are in are office today
in Winter Park on behalf of Expert Village. In this segment we are going to talk about:
Is there research? Has there been research done for acupuncture as a procedure as a service.
We sometimes get patience that call our office and they always wonder, you know, is there
research down? "Can I look up research?" Absolutely, you can. What's really fun about practicing
holistic medicine right now is the internet. Ever since the internet, the patients come
in and they say "I want acupuncture now." Or I want to know if I can do this. There's
of those questions, although we love to answer them but it's really fun to practice when
the patients have done their homework prior to coming in our office. So I would differ
the answer to the question in this segment is to really differ the answer. Just plug
acupuncture in Google and you will get all the research you could possibly won't or need.
There has been a lot of research, in fact, there's colleges that just teach acupuncture
and they do their own research. You can tie in the colleges themselves. If were considering
the school or doctor that went to that college. Just plug in the college itself and then also
now acupuncture is being taught in over seven different medical schools the last time I
was aware of that. So, knowing that they are in the colleges, you can look up to the college
website. Some of these are in office and according and along with the internet, we like to use
a book from my college. You can plug in the National University of Health Sciences and
you can get some information about manipulation of holistic care. There is also an M.D. program
at this college, Natural Pathic Doctorate Program as well. We love Tay Olson. Tay Olson
is one of the big time fans of acupuncture and researcher of acupuncture medicine and
Chinese medicine as well. Tay Olson really put out a very, very good book on Oracowa
therapy. So, there's a hundred and fifty-nine or more in here. Those are the ones that are
at least talked about, most commonly. This is a very, very excellent book for that. This
Doctor Ralph Allen Dale, who taught me, he was my mentor in acupuncture. He was the professor
at my medical school. He actually wrote his on book and we call this the formula type
acupuncture where there's a prescription index in there. It talks about the points for each
conditions, very, very powerful book, excellent book. Then the PDR for herbal medicine. So
when we talk about treat patients with acupuncture, it goes hand in hand. No patient get acupuncture
in our office without some kind of herbal or homeopathic remedy. So we have a great
book, a great reverence guide for nutrition and herbal therapies. Then there's the JMP,
the journal of manipulation and physiological and therapeutics. An excellent journal to
read. More for the physician, but definitely a patient that's interested in the more scientific
articles or journals.
