so over the weekend i heard about the study on the radio that i've felt super interesting
so i did some more research i found actual studied and uh... it has to do with money
and whether or not they can buy you happiness
okay we've heard in the past money can't buy you happiness yadda yadda yadda show me the
scientific data that proves it right all right
two studies have been done that proved that money can't buy you happiness one of them
to say that was done in belgium the other one is that i study that's been done in british
columbia
so let's start with the belgium study al what researchers did is they passed out questionnaires
to three hundred fifty one people
and the questionnaires asset about their income their happiness and their desire for a while
now before the answer the question is half of them were shown a picture of money the
other half was shown a picture of money but it was delivered to the point where they could
recognize when it was now the group that saw the picture of money
answered the questionnaire uh... basically indicating that they were unhappy
but they individuals who saw the black picture were much happier in their answers
so of course there could be flaws in this study obviously right but then there was another
study done in british columbia that i found even more not telling
so what they did in this study is they had al one group
that that was alright given a questionnaire that asked them about their demographics the
other group also have the same questionnaire
and uh... both groups were given a piece of chocolate now before they can even chocolate
they were shown a stack of money
okay one group which exactly the other group was not
the group that we shall miss as sack of money did not favor the chocolate the same way as
the group that was not shown stack muddy right so they were unable to enjoy the simple little
pleasures in life
and this guy has
holes in both different studies including in the first study
if you were with her
you actually filled last satisfaction and things
then if you are poor not just sittin viewing the money picture
but if you came in and you answered you know that you make more money
you're less likely that
savored right
two studies doesn't mean it's a hundred percent rule but it's very convincing prevented sully
done studies right
but this
tells me a lot of fix and there's somethings you definitely are some things will be so
little speculation are number one what they're saying is
have more money
you forget the enjoyed a little thick yes
okay like the chocolate that seems like if their conclusion
but i think they're now they're a little speculation on top
i think they're nothing that he tells you it is
when your mind of money maybe
uh... reminds you what of what things cost so the maybe you enjoy things lasts
there's the worry about the cost and the cost of they look at my by this piece of paper
eat this piece of chocolate
well that i won't be able to have a piece or i won't be able to have this or i won't
be able to have that and that maybe that's what's up
causing people not the jury what they're having a smart also another thing that i realize
in this study is not all of that participants were wealthy obviously writing cell maybe
they were won a spot that image of money they were reminded of money and that kind of
stress that not and even realize what they're of financial status is
and since they were distracted by that they couldn't savor the chocolate or they can enjoy
the chocolate that's a great point to but remember in the earlier study if they were
richer
they actually favorite things last night
okay so and earlier study is the one that i had to do with the questionnaire is not
the chocolate right
so now
in my overall conclusion from this is
it's not just about the studies is the issue of saver
to affect
and other public service announcement if you are to be
it is of the most important thing in life bucket type when we can you get a grander
statement that now that i actually agree with that party
because i've seen other studies it backed up by my own experience but what i saw the
citizens would
exactly thank you
the number one indicator of happiness is how much you appreciate things
give his everybody has ups and downs in their lives everybody has bad breaks it but he has
good breaks every has fed of course not everybody's equal i mean
bill gates peasant
you know feelings about the billions of dollars and this was going to have more breaks in
your son is
at seven so we get all that right
but it's the thing that determines whether you're happy or not is not that its
how much do appreciate what you have
right yes and so when you see that
you've got to make an effort usually when i say it's not because i call you wanna be
pollyannish or u wanna you know
all it's a pain astronaut you make the effort because it's actually with the one thing that
you don't get a bigger pritchett like more and make you happier
so do yourself a favor it's a birthday yes hikari and look i'll give you a little example
right over the weekend i was reminded of
the fact that okay i'm not wealthy but and tremendously lucky in so many other ways and
sitting there it's father's day we're having a delightful delicious little meal and you
know my mom brings out a list really lamb chops and and that's a big deal frescoes australian
lamb chops are expensive so you know i'm heating and i'm enjoying it and like you know what
i'm glad i'm not that wealthy because if i was are women join these lamb chops as much
as i do right now expect that
