well, you know, i got this *** wire hangin from my brain now and
and i can't really sing as good as i used to and
i'm more *** up
i'd rather play in front of fifty kids that don't know who i am or what i've
done or
don't refer to me
from the life of agony hitch
i'm gonna sound really *** up by what i'm saying, but i always looked at the
music industry
as
the holocaust, you know,
artists being the people who are sacrificed, burned down,
eliminated,
suit and tie guys being the nazis
and
that's the way i look at it and
after the whole roadrunner thing... and finally my contracts were up
i swore, i'd never give my masters to anybody ever again
and that's the way i intend to do it i do a record once a year,
once every year and a half, i mean, i could do a record, i could do two records a year
but
i wanna tour - like this new record we did - i wanna tour all through
2009 as well
and work really hard because it's a fantastic record
i released it on my own, because i'm not gonna wait around for some idiot
to get what i do,
and my music is on the edge,
i take risks with my music, i don't follow trends, i don't want to be a part of
anyone or anything, i'm not trying to fit in and never did, i never will, i don't
really care too
i'm creating my own
sonic universe, you know, my own
uh... vertical
color of sound
so to speak, you know
and that's the way i like it and i want to, you know, no one is going to take care
of me the way i'm going to take care of me, or my band, you know we're not plugging
in every night and we're not on no automatic shift
like ninety nine percent of the bands that are out there
you know, we're on the edge
we are always trying to challenge ourselves
to discover new territory musically
and we do that on stage
that's the best place to do it
because you're on the spot, you know,
and peopleĆ all eyes are on you...
the risk becomes greater,
which creates more inspiration
to take that chance, you know what i mean?
mistakes kinda don't exist, even if we hit a foul note, we make it work
i grew up
you know, my time
the whole,
that whole era, jane's addiction
*** for pyros, pearl jam, alice in chains mad season
that, i mean beyond the bowie, zeppelin and floyd thing
that whole "grunge" thing really affected me in a big way, as well those
cats: cornell, you know layne staney, all of those dudes
they were all my heroes i was growing up to, so
being able to get the chance to work with someone that you adored
and truly respected, it was a gift
it was, it was in malibu
and it was in the studio right in the *** hill
i mean literally you could see you look out of the window, you seem hummingbirds, you know
flying right by the window
you could see axl rose's house over there in the hills, you could see the old pacific,
*** cool, i mean
it was a dream
it was literally dream it was like
the environment was so intense,
we were glowing,
it was, it was just uh... i was so grateful that someone
with flea's experience
that he would really, really
wanna be a part of
what we did in one of our tracks
were on our way to achieving
the musical territory that
we really wanna be in
what's up, my name is keith caputo
and you're watching "rattlesnake rocks"
