My name is Barbara Esses and I do events for a living. I'm Ruthie Hecht; I'm an event planner
and I work with and for my mother. We're going to teach you the do's and don'ts for the perfect
wedding. In case you're not up for Filene's Running of the Brides, you can still score
a designer wedding dress without all the chaos. Go to your local department store. See if
they have any samples available or dresses that brides didn't pick up. Just because someone
else let that dress go, it doesn't mean it's not perfect for you. Most wedding gown stores
do hold sample sales that are quite civilized. You can't always try on at those sales so
go ahead of time and know which designer's fit you and which cut you're looking for.
Have a dress in mind and you'll be sure to find it. Also, there's no reason you can't
wear a used dress. Brides sell their dresses within a month of getting married. You can
usually get this or last season's styles at a local consignment shop. There are lots of
places to pick up a designer wedding dress. You just have to know where to look.
