Hi, my name is Sheryl McGlachlin with crazysheryl.com and welcome to expertvillage.com. We're talking
about going outdoors and hiking and walking in the winter time in the coldest months of
the year and here in Utah, we have lots and lots of snow. But, some people make a mistake
of going in places where they are not familiar with what is underneath the snow. Now this
is my front yard, I and happen to know that, about 2 or 3 feet under here is actually grass.
But I have seen where people will go up into the mountains and they will be walking on
snow and they think it is a nice big open field when in fact it is a lake underneath.
You don't ever want to walk on terrain that you don't know about what it looks like underneath
the snow and there are all kinds of things underneath snow that can be dangerous. Also,
if you're up in the mountains, you need, especially in our mountains, you need to be aware of
avalanche danger and know where to stay away from and where is safe.
