The Howard Community College Educational Foundation raises funds to support student scholarships
and programs. When you make a donation to a scholarship fund, or sponsor one of our
events such as the HCC Grand Prix, Vino Scholastico or the Dragon dash, you are giving students
the hope of a better future.
I could tell you more but let's have the students speak for themselves.
Yuri Villatoro: My parents are actually um both from El Salvador
and we still struggle so much in this country.
I'm the first in my family to go to College, even graduate high school.
Jason Horton: My dad has gone in and out of unemployment.
So during that time its like I would have the job, my mom would have the job, but then
there's a phase when both him and I would not have a job and its just-just, it can bring
down the whole family
Noelle Mineart: My mom moved out when she was seventeen and put herself through college,
my dad had gone into the military and didn't start his degree 'til later.
When we moved here he actually had two jobs and he was also going to school
Yuri: Getting a scholarship made it possible
for me to get into the University without putting in a huge financial burden on my parents.
Noelle: I think it really takes a huge pressure
off of students if they have a scholarship that allows them to go to school without having
to worry for paying for their tuition
Chris Marasco: On average, four out of every ten HCC students
seek some form of scholarship aid.
Your gift to the HCC Educational Foundation can help us meet this unmet scholarship need.
Jason: with the scholarship it just really helps,
I can, we can save money as a family and focus on other things.
Noelle: I mean for me it, you know, has helped me
pay for things, but some, for some people that can mean that they can actually go to
college.
Yuri: You can make so many investments, you can
make investments in stocks, you can make investments in bonds. But making investments on a person,
while it's risky, at the end of the day you'll feel a lot more satisfaction from
doing that.
Jason: You're supporting- you're putting you're faith
in another person and hoping they do their best.
Yuri: I hope one day I can make enough money to
be able to sponsor other people to go to college
Chris Marasco: You can make a difference in the life of a deserving student.
