Hey, I'm Chris. Welcome to our supplemental room.
My name is Ben. I'm from outside of Philadelphia and I'm a secondary education major.
My name is Chris. I'm from Randolph, New Jersey and I'm a film major.
My name's Matt. I'm from Baltimore, Maryland and I'm undecided right now.
My name's Joseph. I'm a mechanical engineering major and I live in Jersey.
I'm John. I'm a civil engineering major and I'm from Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
I don't know, until we got here I just really didn't know what to think.
I told everybody I was in a room with, like, seven other guys.
And they were like, "You mean like a suite with two rooms and an adjoining room?"
And I'm like, "No, just one big room." And when I got here and saw how big it was and everything
and what we could do with it, I knew it was going to be better than what I thought it would be.
I didn't really want to be living with seven other guys. But, I don't know, it turned out well.
We had the possibility to meet so many new people. Like, you room with one person and
you have a group of five friends: his friends and your friends.
Well, we have, we had eight people, now we have five, and the possibility of friends is almost endless.
I can study in here just fine, I mean just put some headphones on and just do some work.
Or, if it's quiet in here then no problem.
In the beginning it was difficult, because I'm a late night guy, and some people like to go to sleep
early, some people can't sleep with the lights on. But, if you look around, we've kind of blocked the
light out so the people that do go to bed early have their privacy and the people that stay up can do
their calc homework at 12 o'clock at night.
So, you'll get used to it. It's not that difficult.
Yeah I have all 8 AMs and I couldn't really go to sleep to any kind of noise before this.
And now I can fall asleep to music and the lights can be on and, I don't know, you learn how to change for stuff.
Within the first month, we all got an email saying, "If you want to move out of supplemental, reply to
this email and they'll see what they can do," and the two roommates that did move out responded to the
email and were out within a week. They were gone quick.
[Interviewer] What made you guys choose to stay?
Look at this place. It's a sweet room.
But we really just all get along.
It was awful when we got here, it was all the dressers were bunched up in this area and the beds were
all lined up against the wall and the desks were crammed together and everything. So we moved everything
around so we had this whole living area around here.
For about the first two months, about every week or two, we would actually just rearrange the entire
room. I don't know if we were just antsy, but finally we settled on this and it's been working out for
the last couple months.
Yeah we basically all go in on, like we all put in money for different things like this futon, which
is slowly breaking. And same with this table right here. But it is nice to split things five ways--
Well, in the beginning eight.
It's not as bad as they kinda make you think. Like when they said supplemental I was like, "Oh so we're
gonna get secondary housing or housing that's not supposed to be housing?" But, what we got was just
an amazing room and it's just huge and there's so many options in here that most people don't get. And
that's really cool. And plus, all the roommates are awesome. You meet so many more people. It's really
an advantage moreso than anything else.
Alright so, this is our room but we have a lot of Rock Band to play, so bye.
Go, elevator's down the hall.
