Hi, I'm Marek, you know me already, we're at the Geneva Motor Show
This is Martin Boltryk, Puls Biznesu daily. Today he was my cameraman, and yesterday as well.
And probably I'll do the same tomorrow.
So all the good and bad shots are his fault, not mine.
Today we'll try to tell you about the Geneva premieres
What we saw, what we found interesting, what we liked, and what we didn't like
We also saw some terrbile and dangerous things.
We kick off with Citroen. The order is purely accidental.
Citroen C4 Cactus is first. Martin, what do you think about it?
It's pretty good. The car looks very similar to what we saw 6 months ago in Frankfurt
I didn't believe this car would co into production.
Neither did I. I didn't believe it would have these air panels on the doors.
You can replace them, hit them
Let's say your kid opens your car and hits a Cactus - no damage.
Also the interior is nice. The displays remind me of BMW i3.
I thought it's more like the 2CV, but let's meet somewhere in the middle. Generally speaking, we like this car.
Citroen C1, Peugeot 108, Toyota Aygo.
New generation of the triples from Žilina? Are they made in Slovakia? Please tell me it's Slovakia.
Well, let's just say they are not made in Poland.
Anyway, at least this time they all look different.
They all look different, and they are all ugly.
The best looking small car here is the new Renault Twingo.
RWD, engine mounted in the back as well, it's also going to be the new generation smart4four.
I have no clue how it drives, but I hope they don't spoil it with too much electronics.
Some journos joked it will drive backwards. But as far as the exterior and interior looks are concerned, it's a cute city car.
It definitely looks better, than the C1/108/Aygo,although I heard you'll be able to personalise them now.
There's also going to be an optional retractable softtop.
In both of these cars... no, wait, there four of them. C1/108/Aygo and Twingo
There's focus on the infotainment systems.
Even in such small cars we can have smartphoneintegration. In case of C1/108/Aygo there's a touchscreen
And the Twingo has a universal cradle with a cable.
So you can charge your smartphone, and at the same time use its satnav, listen to music...
One more thing about the "triplets" is that they may look different on the outside, but inside they're very similar.
BMW. We walked over to the BMW stand, and...
It's time to die. Something's rotten in the state of Bavaria.
A FWD van. It's the 2 Series Active Tourer.
It's got relatively high driving position, and it looks a bit like KIA Carens.
Not a bit. A lot. And yes, it's premium. It's got a tunnel in the middle.
I don't know why, because I don't expect xDrive. Maybe to stiffen the chassis.
I get BMW needs this car, to steal some B-Class customers
But I'm concerned that the new platform may mean FWD in other BMWs, like the 1 Series or X1.
So it's all a bit topsy turvy, with Renault showing a RWD car.
Fortunately BMW also presented M4, M3, M235i, these are all cool cars with the correct-wheel-drive ;)
But we may have to get used to thinking about such cars as a thing of the past.
You may have noticed we're at the Volvo stand, behind us is a...
...a mock up. No, sorry, Coupe Concept, which we know from Frankfurt
And down there, you'll see the shots in a moment, is the Estate concept.
This car indicates what the new Volvo estates will look like.
This is probably the best looking concept in Geneva this year.
It's also very popular, it's hard to get close to it with a camera.
Actually, we haven't filmed it yet, but we're not supposed to say that.
It's go CarPlay - a new inforatinment system, which integrates the car with your iOS device.
You'll get the same in Mercedes, and Ferrari.
I saw a Ferrari here somewhere, but probably CarPlay drained its battery by now.
So, CarPlay is coming in about six months. It's works kind of like AirPlay.
You can use your smartphone to navigate you. There's also going to be some Android alternative.
Next on out list is the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. We saw a concept in Frankfurt last year.
It's a beautiful thing, so we'll just show you the pictures.
And it costs as much as the "triplets", Twingo, and probably the Volvo concept car down there.
And now lt's go to Mazda. Mazda is focusing on the Hazumi Concept, which will be the new Mazda2.
Probably not this year. Bearing in mind what the previous Mazda concepts looked like, and how Mazda6 and Mazda3 turned out...
It's safe to assume Mazda2 will look very much like the concept,
Minus the double tailpipe. There's probably not going to be a hot version. Rather an eco-friendly diesel.
Next up we've got VW and the T-ROC, which indicates what the new VW crossovers and SUVs will look like.
But we're not telling you about it, because it's so cool. It's because we've seen it somewhere before.
At the 2012 Paris Motor Show it was called the Audi Crosslane Concept,
and it was supposed to indicate what the new Audi crossovers will look like.
We haven't seen the new Audi or VW crossovers yet. Maybe they've run out of ideas.
But Audi has got something interesting inside the new TT. It's called a virtual cockpit.
It's a display accross the whole space, where your dials should be. The dials are digital.
The dials can be bigger or smaller, depending on how much map do we want to see.
It's like in the EuroCopter. The display shows the pilot what he needs at a given moment.
I didn't play this game ;)
I actually sat in one.
Anyway, the display makes sense, because we need different information depending on what we're doing, and how we're driving.
Audi also has really cool airvents with controls placed in the middle.
Jeep! No, Fiat. Fiat made a Jeep. The world has ended, when Fiat took over Chrysler, and
moved out of Italy to the Netherlands.
And now this. We've got a Jeep based on the Fiat 500L. It looks interesting. It's
boxy, you have round headlamps, signature Jeep grill. There's some Fiat 500L switchgear inside though.
Let's hope it drives better, than the 500L, but after Patriot and Compass I'll forgive Jeep just about anything.
Otherwise there isn't much to talk about in the Fiat stand, except for the Abarth 500.
Which is 50 years old. And there were some some girls as well.
Let's leave the girls alone, and see what Honda's up to.
Honda Civic Type R is still a concept, we know it's going to have a turbocharged 2.0 engine.
Ecology prevents Honda from using its high-reving naturally aspirated engine, which Honda owners loved.
The 200 hp 2-liter naturally aspirated engine is something you can see in a museum these days.
The good news is Honda will make this car, because recently it's been as hot, as Toyota before GT86.
Porsche. Please take your kids away, because we're going to be talking dirty.
It's probably the only stand, where you don't need booth babes.
And we don't care about these hybrid supercar things.
Most of us can't afford it, and will never get to drive them.
But the 911 Targa is within reach, and it really draws from the 1980s and 1970s Porsches.
The rear window has the same shape, and the B-pillar is prominent.
The way the roof opens and closes... in the past you had to fold it like an umbrella and stick it in the boot.
Now the glass rises, and the roof slides underneath. It's ***.
It's like a woman spreading her legs.
And this is how guys look, when their watching the 911 Targa roof open and close.
We almost forgot. There's a Ford Focus. Not a facelift. New, it says in the press release.
It's got the proper Ford Sync system now.
Anyway, people are probably interested, whether it will do 300,000 km as a fleet car.
Hard to say, how will the EcoBoost engine behave, when a sales rep gives it some welly.
And now to sum up we'd like to tell you, what we liked most.
Super debut. IMO it's the C4 Cactus, because it looks like a concept.
I love the bench across the whole front, I like the way the dashboard is finished on the passenger's side.
The airbump door panels. I'm really pleased to see all this go into production.
I also like a French car, but for me it's the Twingo. RWD. It's the coolest city car here.
Super concept. It's no accident we're at the Volvo stand, because we like the Estate Concept down there.
I think we can agree this is the best looking concept in Geneva.
So, Volvo's got good concepts, now it's time to make the real thing.
Surprise. For me it's the Jeep Renegade. It turns out you can build something cool-looking
on the 500L platform, and perhaps this whole synergy thing will work out for FCA.
Maybe there's more to it, than just rebadging Lancia into Chrysler, and Dodge into Fiat.
This is more, than just sticking a Jeep badge on Fiat's bonnet. It's a positive surprise.
I've got a negative surprise, and that's the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.
I understand people need vans, but I don't like it.
Oh, we missed one more thing. A concept. I am disappointed with Rinspeed.
I always thought of Rinspeed as a tuner, like RUF. It always had aggressive cars.
But this time it's electric something...
Yes, it's a car you can stretch your legs in. The seat turns, the steering is behind you.
The interior looks like the inside of a Japanese toilet.
But you know what, I like that in Geneva Rinspeed always shows something out of this world, like the XchangE.
You want to see something out of this world? Go see Mansory.
Will you let me finish? I spent two hours in traffic driving back to the hotel yesterday,
and I can imagine myself laid back, reading, working, and the car drives itself.
In this traffic the battery would be flat before you got out of Geneva.
OK, this is all we have for you today. I hope you liked it.

You can read Martin's articles in Puls Biznesu daily
a bit more serious stuff, than what we did today.
Thanks for watching. See you next time.
