Not only are we coming together with the families that you have close by, but you talk about
"Pow Wow" family. There's some people you only see at Pow Wows. So you only get to see
them at certain Pow Wows. Maybe that don't make it to all of them, they just have a few
they go to. So you know that you might be waiting that whole year just to see that person.
It's like an awakening. Spring's coming here, perfect timing. It's that awakening, that
renewal of energy and you get excited. You're wondering "what have people been working on
all year?" I'm going to be able to see a lot of new children that have been born and are
coming into the circle for the first time. So you just get to have that new energy and
that excitement with CMU.
During the Pow Wow, and part of it is to help teach our children that this is a way of life
and a way of life that you can embrace. You still can take and be a part of the 21st century,
but it doesn't mean you have to give up you identity. You can be proud. Carry that knowledge
forward that those elders took the time to make sure I learned and the goal is to now
make sure the children, it's that transference of that cultural knowledge.
