We have an extremely full program.
Everything is open to discussion, including the touchy subjects.
The idea is that when we reach the end of these two days
we should be able to present concrete proposals to the G8 heads of states.
Today, to conceive the Internet is to assume truly historic responsibility.
This responsibility can only be shared between you and us.
We have things to understand.
States, much the same as individuals and companies,
have no intention of missing the opportunity to be part of the progress
that you have initiated and that you embody.
We have a micro French market, a micro German market and a micro Italian market.
So the European Internet companies cannot compete
against the big American and the big Chinese companies
because the domestic market is not European but a multitude of small countries.
We need to abolish those borders.
We have to abolish the European barriers.
We know that in Europe languages are different, sometimes the culture differs.
But governments have to go further and create a global European market.
Otherwise every time we create a company in a country, it’s as if you create a small startup,
whereas the American have the ability to get global right off the bat.
