SöderScholar - find and borrow a book.
Hi. My name is Rickard and I work as an ICT-pedagogue in the library.
In this video I will show you how to find and borrow books using SöderScholar.
For example, say you want to borrow 'Textens mening och makt', by Göran Bergström.
Type in words from the book's title, and the author's name.
This title has more than one edition. Click 'View all 2 versions'.
The first result is the third edition, published 2013.
The second result is the second edition, published 2005.
We are wanting to borrow the third edition.
Click 'In the library'.
As we can see, all copies of this book are on loan.
But, we can reserve the book.
Type in your name and Sh-card number.
Your Sh-card number is beneath the barcode on your Sh-card or library card.
Leave these fields unchanged. Confirm your reservation by clicking 'Send'.
Your reservation has now been made. You will receive an e-mail when the book is ready for collection.
Here is another example.
Say you are looking for the book 'Lärande och kulturella redskap', second edition, from 2010,
by Roger Säljö.
The library only seems to have the older edition.
We will try to search for the book somewhere else instead.
Click 'Other resources A-Z'.
Here you will find links to diverse databases and search tools.
For example, we can search in Libris (the national catalogue) and see if the book is there.
As we can see, the book is here. Click on the title to find out where it is.
If the book is at a library in the Stockholm region then borrow it from there.
Otherwise, you can order the book as an interlibrary loan.
You can also suggest a purchase.
