As Ryan said, tonight is senior night, so it's a night where we get to honor our seniors
which is awesome, because the chapter wouldn't be here
without our seniors, especially our seniors this year, so
I'm up first,
and I get to honor Curtis.
So, not many people believe me, but when I was a freshman
and I got to RIT, I was very quiet and very shy
and
I met this other guy, and he was also very quiet and very shy.
He happened to be my small group leader.
um...
and I didn't always go to small group, and sometimes
you had to text me right before
but he saw something in me
and he invested his time in me while he was here
uh... and because of that
I'm the guy I am in front of you guys today.
Curtis
uh... like I said, he's quiet and shy, if he doesn't know you,
and once he gets to know you, it's pretty hard to make him shut up.
He just keeps going
once you start businesses with him , and it's awesome, because
he's not talking just to make noise. He's talking because he cares about you And is letting you know what he thinks.
So I had the privilege of meeting with Curtis
pretty much once a week for lunch,
We would read a book throughout the week.
We'd discuss the book, and because of that
i have grown tremendously in my faith
and Curtis is somebody that
I will definitely continue to
talk with and eat with
and share my life with after I leave RIT.
So
basically I met her at Dxpedition
last year and
my bed was here, and her bed was here
and she was like "Hi, I'm Alison!" And I was like "Hi, I like you!"
So, I'm kind of shy, and awkward, so when people talk to me and introduce themselves,
I'm like, "Ooh, friend!", so I stick by them, closely!
And Alison didn't mind that, or if she did, she didn't tell me.
We became friends and
she always understood my shyness
and my awkwardness even if I wasn't
saying anything, she knew what's going on in my head
so that's a pretty good connection.
anyway,
so I had a really horrible first year here,
but she definitely helped me
make friends and
she
encouraged me to keep coming to IV, and since she invested
so much of her life in me I realized what I
wanted to do for other freshman.
...like this year... so they wouldn't be in the same place I was last year.
and be Alison to them!
so my freshman year I
basically remember seeing him at IV, and he was the friendly guy...
and I think everybody at RIT knows him, and I was intimidated a little by him.
He's big! He's like a lumberjack sometimes.
At a certain point I wanted to hang out and talk to him,
and after a bit of time,
he was like, "Hey, we should meet every Wednesday and go through the Bible," and I was like, "Awesome!"
And me being relatively new in my faith, I was like, "This is gonna be great for me!"
because he clearly knows what he's doing, and we spent
a lot of time and you know he's really...
but I remember he would
drag me out of my comfort zone a lot
He'd bring up topics that I was like, "I'm not sure I want to talk about that!"
or I remember
he invited me to Man Over last year, and I was like,
"I don't really feel like connecting with other people!"
And you probably don't view me as being shy, but I can be shy.
he's kinda awesome and
video announcements are him!!
This is Joel!
This is how I kind of summarize him!
