Probably 2005, I first picked up a guitar and haven't really put it down since if I'm honest.
Nice, ok, so was it love at first strum?
Love at first strum, yeah!
'Such the weight of the world, the weight upon your shoulders...
...Slowly you're pushing me now, you're pulling me closer.'
So what are your inspirations when you're writing your songs?
Well I look at, I mean, you got artists like Ben Howard...
...and this guy called Fink I'm really into at the moment.
You just see what they're doing and I thought, growing up listening to them I thought...
...I really want a piece of that.
So yeah, growing up that's where I have sort of drawn a lot of my influence from and things like that.
And where does your material come from?
Do you look at the world around you? Or your family? Or stuff like that?
It's mostly yeah, its like pick up on things that go on in life...
...and just think, I'll write a song about it...
...and then yeah, put pen to paper and then there's a song!
'Drawn magnetically, to peel away our boarders...
...Black holes in memories, keep the pieces in order.'
So do you remember your Yes moment when you decided that you were going...
...to pick up that guitar and play in front of an audience?
Well that would probably have to be in, I think 2007...
...I used to be in a band with my brother and a few mates...
...and this was a really small little thing at the school, it was a talent show.
We all got up on stage and I just remember standing there with my guitar...
...and I just thought, everyone was like having a really good time and I just through.
Wow I could really do this, for a long long time.
And since then, yeah, I've just tried to keep that up really...
...so yeah I think that would have to be my Yes moment, yeah.
Nice!
'Till the bitter end, guess it all depends, who's waiting for you, waiting for you.'
'Black holes and memories, peel away our boarders.'
So what's the big plan for you then? What's the dream?
Well the dream would have to be, I mean...
...you see things like Glastonbury and all these massive festivals and things like that...
...and to be able to say that I've played at something like Glastonbury...
...would be absolutely incredible.
To say I've played at Glastonbury would just be...yeah, be the cherry on the cake!
Yeah I don't blame you with that one.
'No, no hope to understand, you try to build these plans, depends on what we do...
...and at the bitter end guess it all depends. Who's waiting for you, Waiting for you...
...No hope to understand, you try to build these plans...
...depends on what we do. And at the bitter end guess it all depends...
...Who's waiting for you, Waiting for you.
So where can we follow your story online?
Erm, you can find me on YouTube, at Ollie Greatrick Moosic...
