If you're considering breast reduction surgery
you'll want to know not only what is involved in the procedure itself,
but also what you need to do to plan for recovery. Here's Dr. de la Torre
explaining a typical recovery schedule for patients who have undergone breast reduction.
the recovery for a breast reduction procedure
obviously varies on the individual. Typically I will recommend that patients allow
two weeks or so before they get back to
work. Typically in the first few weeks
after breast reduction surgery, patients may have some soreness and some
tenderness related to the operation itself.
They may also be recovering from the operation and the anesthetic,
and therefore strenuous activities, strenuous athletic activities or heavy
exercise - heavy lifting -
might not be ideal in that time frame and I usually recommend that the patient's
progress slowly
as they recover from their surgery. During the recovery process
I had to be okay with not exercising for about five weeks after.
The first two weeks you don't want to exercise because you are so
physically exhausted.
Also having great support from friends and family
and being
okay with taking
it easy.
