[start] Commentator: "The Honda certified mechanic
is the heart of the entire Honda Certified Used Vehicle program, but before the mechanic
even sees the inspection sheets or the vehicle, the dealership
has performed a thorough pre-inspection. The sales manager confirms that the vehicle has
an owner’s manual, a warranty manual, and any other original documentation
offered when the car was new. The sales manager has already obtained a Car Proof vehicle history
report, and has confirmed that it exceeds the Honda Certified
Used Eligibility Requirements. The next step is to generate a repair order requesting the
100 Point Mechanic and Appearance Inspection. With 100 items to inspect
and report on, there are 2 sheets for the mechanic to fill out.
The first sheet is the Appearance Inspection Checklist. The mechanic visually inspects
both exterior and interior components, and records whether or not the meet
satisfaction required servicing or reconditioning. The mechanic moves to the Mechanical Inspection
Checklist. This is a detailed examination of the vehicle
which includes specific measurements that are compared to factory specifications and
minimum tolerances. Any component from a Honda certified used
vehicle that does not pass Honda's specifications, will be reconditioned or replaced as required.
The mechanic completes the inspection with these parameters in mind.
After the vehicle is inspected, estimates are made with the costs for any repairs, and
returned to the sales manager for approval. The sales manager will then
decide to either accept the vehicle or not. Once accepted all designated service and repairs
will be performed by the Honda certified mechanic.
