The Grommet begins and ends with makers,
people who create products,
so our space needed to be a 3D expression of that
so, New Antiquity and Matt made two things for us,
a video backdrop, which you would see every single day on our site
And what you might consider, you know, cubes, we call pods and we have this dividers that are inspired by shipping pallets
because the products that we launch ship on pallets.
This is definitely one of the larger products that we've worked on
It was over 1500 pieces of wood that we had to stain throughout the whole process
So, between unloading all the wood and cutting everything down to the right length
and then staining it, it was, it was quite a process
Because we were really pushing the boundaries of, of our space
And the scale and the time frame that we were working with
We always like to kind of challenge ourselves and move up to the next level
So being able to do that here was just really exciting and fun
The very obvious similarity between The Grommet and CustomMade
Is we're shaping the economy in a different way, against a different vision
Makers and creators can succeed and giving them a platform to do that
And giving customers a place to act against there own vision and values
I think, at least in our generation, the way that we've grown up, has been
We've always had a lot of mass produced stuff
So the opportunity for a person to develop a one on one relationship
With a maker
And be able to get something that's perfect for your space, perfect for your style
And actually being able to have a relationship with the people that are making the stuff
I think, is just, its huge
It's, it's really awesome
