At least three people were killed as two gunmen stormed a packed church near the Kenyan coastal
city of Mombasa in what police are calling a terrorist attack. One witness said the gunmen
shouted out in a foreign language before shooting at random. These horrific images show blood-spattered
Bibles and overturned plastic chairs on the church's floor after the attack.
Likoni Police Chief Robert Mureithi said two hooded gunmen stormed the church premises
just as mass was about to start.
As worshippers were trying to prepare themselves for the service, it is alleged that two men
stormed the church and one of them started firing randomly at the worshippers.
Police have said the high number of bullet cartridges left indicated the gunmen were
armed with automatic weapons. The attackers also tried to raid a second church nearby
but fled when police appeared.
At this hospital, children were among the wounded being treated.
There is no immediate claim for responsibility.
