My name is Barbara Esses and I do events for a living. I'm Ruthie Hecht; I'm an event planner
and I work with and for my mother. We're going to teach you the do's and don'ts for the perfect
wedding.
Whatever size band you can possibly afford is the best way to go with when choosing a
band for a wedding. If at all possible and you've been to an event and you've seen a
band then it's great to be able to hire them knowing what you've seen before. If not, one
goes to their offices, listens to their demos, and meets the band leader. There are many
companies where they have sales people selling you the music.
A suggestion here and actually the most important thing here is that you meet the band leader,
you have eye contact with him, you sit and chat with him and see if you have a rapport
with him. Chances are if it's the band leader that you meet, that he runs a good band because
he's happy to come out to meet with you, expose himself, spend time with you. Anybody who
will not, and says they are going to send you musicians that's not the person you should
hire. It's important to have a rapport, it's important to meet with them, tell them the
music you like and that you don't, and see how they respond to your suggestions and see
if you can have a very warm friendly discussion, and then you'll know that it's the band leader
for you.
