Hi! I am going to talk to you now about preserving wildlife. Preserving wildlife is a very important
part of low impact hiking. You can preserve wildlife by simply staying on the trail. If
you were to say circumvent this muddy patch because you don't want to get it all turned
up and you had to go around on this side, you would be walking on this moss here and
it is very delicate stuff. It tears very easy. It can start wearing away if a lot of people
start doing it. Also, we have these ferns here. You will treading on the ferns here
which also help hold together all of the dirt that is there. You might step on important
plants or endangered species. If you must go off trail for some reason, just be very
careful where you are stepping because you don't want to destroy any of the delicate
habitat that is around here.
