The field of image guided interventional radiology is booming. We are in its infancy. It’s
mushrooming in terms of the various treatments that are coming down the pike.
Targeted therapies have now become recognized in medicine. It used to be that we
were in the bottom of the hospital, nobody knew about us we only treated the patients
who had no other options, and then they would come to us.
Now a lot of the therapies that we offer are becoming main stream. If you, for example
take cancer, it used to be that all the patients who were inoperable had no
chemotherapy or had exhausted their chemotherapies or weren't a candidate for
radiation would come to us with various things. Over time, proof that some of these
therapies are not only are effective but also caused less complications and are less
expensive. Further studies showed that they actually can be the first line therapy, or in
conjunction with other therapies to help these patients. So targeted therapies using
image guidance is in its infancy, they are coming and are going to become big and are
going to be the main stay of treatment in many types of
invasive therapies that are offered now.
