hi this is jessica taylor from ink it up with jessica and in this video I'm going to show you how
to use the new simply scored diagonal plate to make a regular sized envelope
so first of all you want to make sure that you're using the diagonal plate
the correct way
it sits right on top of the simply scored
scoring tool and on the back there is an arrow and you wanna make sure that you
find that arrow and you want that arrow pointing up towards
your top ruler
and if you are don't have it pointed to your top ruler you'll quickly find out that
it does not work very well because the lines do not match up
so with the regular scoring board
you can score straight lines
and with the diagonal plate you can score on the diagonal and I'll show you right
now why that's an important thing to be able to do
so i'm gonna start with a sheet of paper
that is seven and three quarter inch by seven and three quarter inch so it's a
square
and i'm just going to put it up in the top corner and i've used markers to mark the
two
measurements that i need to score at i'm just going to take my
uh...
scoring tool
that has a name stylus that's the name for it so i'm going to take my stylus and I'm going to
score at three and one eighth inch
so then again remember that i'm scoring on a diagonal
then i'm going to flip it to score on the opposite side
at three and one eighth inch again
so i have those two score lines now on the opposite side
i'm going to score at four and one eighth inches so you'll see that we're making
just kind of little triangles here in the corners
and again on the opposite side
at four and one eighth
so when we fold this up
it's going to start to fold up into an envelope shape
now there's a couple things once we get this folded up and one is we have
these extra little things in the corners so you can go ahead and you're
going to just trim those out with your paper snips
another thing that you can do is when you fold the envelope up you
don't necessarily want
this triangle here
you can just trim that straight across with your paper cutter so what you're
gonna get is something that looks like this you can see that i have notched out my little corners and i've also cut this bottom flap straight
then you'll want to put some sticky strip on these two diagonal pieces
and once you take that sticky strip off we're just going to glue the envelope together just like so so this is a regular sized envelope that you can fit a normal size card in
and to show you i have that not a full card but just a little panel that's
four and a quarter by five and a half this is the size
of a card when you use half a sheet of card stock and i just thought this was
kind of fun and a little bit of designer series paper along the side and i
thought i could write my note here i'm going to put that in my envelope
now you can either use adhesive to seal your envelope closed
or you can make a little belly band this is just a one-inch strip of
designer series paper
and i wrapped it around my envelope
and secured the
ends together with some sticky strip and just put a scallop circle to be a little decorative over top
so there you have a fun envelope you can make your envelopes in any
size that you want
and just have fun with your new simply scored diagonal plate
