GREG ARONOWITZ: A career in filmmaking as a dream is not
something that you have to wait to do until you're an
adult or until you can have a job.
It's something that you can start the second you think of
a story, even if it means you're four years old or five
years old, and Written by a Kid proves that.
When I was a kid, I saw Star Wars, and it pretty much
influenced everything that I do today.
Star Wars wasn't necessarily a children's movie, but it still
had an effect on me.
And what I feel Written by a Kid can do is show children
that their ideas and their stories and their images that
they have in their mind can be brought to life.
IMA MOORE: My name is Ima Moore, and I
wrote Ginger Potato.
MALE SPEAKER: How long do I live with my mom?
Forever?
IMA MOORE: 80,000 years.
[LAUGHTER]
MALE SPEAKER: OK, that sounds about right.
GREG ARONOWITZ: Kids today are so lucky, because they have so
much available to them.
I think the second kids know how to hit the button for off
and on, they can actually start making
movies and tell stories.
When I was a kid, film making meant that you had to save up
all your allowance for months and months and months to buy a
little box of film, of eight millimeter film.
Where today, you can make a movie on your phone.
BOTH: It's the coolest gingerbread
house I've ever seen.
FEMALE SPEAKER: Because it's really detailed, and the other
gingerbread houses we've seen-- it's not really
detailed as much as this one.
And I love it.
GREG ARONOWITZ: Film, to me, is really about the
imagination and showing people something that they could
never see in real life.
People ask me all the time, how do I get
into the film business?
And you can't be afraid of what might happen.
You just have to go for it.
If it's in your heart just follow through.
The most important thing you can do for Written by a Kid is
watch it, and tell all your friends to watch it.
Because myself and everyone involved really enjoys making
it, but you guys are the ones that really make
it and make it happen.
And without you, we couldn't do this, and the kids wouldn't
have these opportunities.
So do it for the kids.
