Hey guys, Charles Como back with another Political Minute.
This week we pop over to the state of Michigan where the legislature there passed one of
the most sweeping anti-abortion measures in history and in the process ended up banning
a female representative indefinitely from speaking on the house floor for using a word
the Republicans felt was inappropriate.
Just what was that word?
Well.. let’s find out... start the one minute clock.
The State of Michigan House of Representatives just passed one part of a massive 3-bill package
aimed at restricting access to abortions and heavily regulating clinics that perform them.
In the process leading up to the vote, a female representative, Lisa Brown, made a speech
stating that she is Jewish and she doesn’t impose her religious beliefs on other members
of the house, and therefore, they shouldn't be imposing their religious beliefs on her.
And she finished her speech by saying “I’m flattered that you’re all interested in
my ******, but ‘no’ means ‘no’.”
She was promptly banned indefinitely from speaking on the house floor for using the
word ****.. even though ***** is the actual scientific term for a woman’s *****.
The following day, the Republican House Leadership prevented her from speaking about a bill regarding
the retirement of school employees, which is how she realized that they were serious
about her life-time ban for life for using the word *****.
In the past there have actually been physical fights between male members on the Michigan
House floor and those men did not get banned, so banning a woman who used a scientific term
to describe a woman’s ***** seems more like an attempt to silence a dissenting opinion
about the vote.
What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments below if you think Ms. Brown was
wrong in using the word **** in her…
Hey.. can you guys stop that please? ****** is the proper term to use here... stop putting
in those stupid slang substitutes!
You know, this whole censorship thing is a real pain in my **** Hey.. that wasn't even
the right substitute...
What the heck is going on here?
