Did you know that the average person has between 10 and 40 moles. Moles on your skin come and
go throughout your life. But sometimes a growth can show up that calls for extra attention.
Follow the American Academy of dermatology’s A B C D E guide to examine any suspicious
spots that may actually be skin cancer.
Look for an asymmetric shape or irregular border. Cancerous moles may have many colors
or changing colors over time. Be wary of any spot with a diameter larger than a dime. And
watch out for any growth or change in shape that evolve over time. Keep an eye on parts
of your body that see the sun more often because that’s where these cancerous spots or melanomas
are most likely to develop. Remember limiting sun exposure and using sun screen are the
best defenses against skin cancer.
