It's a Soldier problem. It's a problem for our Army.
It's one that goes against our Warrior Ethos.
Our NCO creed says that no one is more professional than I
and I will not leave a fallen comrade behind.
It is not just a woman's problem, it's a Soldier issue.
It's a great question. One of the most important things
that I think we've got to understand is that any unchecked behaviors
are going to cause problems in our formation.
So the first thing you've got to do is be a person who is willing to accept
your responsibility as a non-commissioned officer
to enforce standards and enforce discipline in your formation.
Whether that's at the team, the squad, the platoon, the company, the battalion level.
It doesn't matter. Across the Army, if we allow unchecked behaviors to happen
we're going to continue to have acts of violence perpetrated against Soldiers.
And that's not okay.
The first thing that NCOs need to remember is that
they've taken an oath that says that they are going to support and defend the Constitution,
that they live the Warrior Ethos, and that they accept the responsibilities
laid out in the NCO creed.
All Soldiers are entitled to outstanding leadership. and Non-commissioned officers
are going to provide that leadership.
And that's really what this is about, is providing a climate where good leaders
are going to take charge and hold Soldiers accountable.
