The best thing about the mountains is that you never know
what the weather is going to be like.
the weather can be fine and you could say its the most fun then,
but i also like to tough it out.
it can be misty and it can snow, and it can even rain, that's the worst
and then you think: 'I'm having such a hard time.'
but then you look at the view and you realize that you're so lucky to be here.
and then I just take a look for a moment and then I want to ski of course
But that really is amazing
I was born with just one leg my other leg was really small,
and you could say it's now the size of half an upper leg.
The challenge of skiing on one leg is that it's tough.
On two legs you can divide the forces over both legs,
but I always have the full force on just one leg.
the difference with skiing on two legs is that force a technical thing we do
is that we try not to bend our knee too much. If you don't bend your knee,
your bones in stead of the knee joint will take more of the weight and the force
because that would be too much.
That is a difference in technique.
For example in the down hill you really have to get low.
I don't get low by bending my knee but I lower my upper body
otherwise it takes too much. You see the best skiers doing the same.
I sometimes feel fear in the down hill that just goes so fast
Sometimes, certainly at the end of the race going towards the finish line
you don't have to do much anymore so it's just full speed
my toes, my knees, my head, everything shakes as if your falling apart
and that's when you have to try to get as low as possible on that one ski
that's when you think, at least you should hope you don't think at all
but if you do think you realize: 'Wow, that's fast'
In the down hill the speed exceeds 100 kph, I should think so.
You just go so fast and that's gives such a rush.
At first I was only qualified for the slalom, my chances are the biggest in that discipline.
The past summer I really gained a lot of strength made some big strides forwards.
I really am looking forward to see what the coming season will bring.
I think that with a bit of luck on a really good day
Amazing things could happen and a medal should be a real possibility.
