The biggest news this year is the new parking lot that’s ready to go. It won’t solve
the tight parking conditions, but it should help.
The new lot is right next to the parking garage so it’s hard to miss. There are 300 more
spaces here and they’re connected to the smaller parking lot that was finished last
year. Specifically, they’re known as lots 30, 31 and 32-S – all for students.
However, there’s only one entrance and it’s off of Jefferson Avenue. So, with all of the
one-way streets in the area, you may have to circle around the garage just to get back
there. Another point to keep in mind. There is no
cross walk on that back corner of Spring Street. That’s where cars come flying off the interstate.
You’ll have to walk down to the crosswalk by the parking garage that has a signal to
get over to campus. Here’s another big change – due to construction
– there will be no parking this year at the Fort Hayes High School lot. So, anyone
who parked here and walked over to campus will have to find a new lot.
That’s why it’s best to arrive a little early if your classes happen during the peak
times between ten and two. If you’re new to campus, you might even want to visit before
classes start to get familiar with the layout. Our parking maps online feature all of the
lots. Take a look at the ones here in red. Those are all student lots – they all have
an “S” following the number. And you may have to go across Cleveland Avenue to find
a lot if you arrive during peak times. That’s where one of our largest lots – 28-S
- is located. It’s also the furthest out – several blocks down Mt. Vernon Avenue.
While it’s about a seven-minute walk to campus, it’s usually the last lot to fill
up each day. For more information, check out cscc.edu/parking for
more information. That site includes a link to our parking twitter page which provides
real-time parking updates on the first two days of classes – Wednesday and Thursday
- and the following Monday.
