I use the quiz tool within Instructure Canvas to give online tests and quizzes
uh... and surveys as well
so here on the quizzes tab I can say I have some unpublished quizzes
which i'm still working on that aren't ready for the students to take yet
I also have these assignment quizzes which these are quizzes the students
can take where i'm going to score them as well
if I edit a quiz here you can see our main quiz editor I can give instructions
for my quiz i can see some of the questions of already defined
and have a several options that i can do
there's different types of quizzes practice quiz
is a quiz where
you would use for the students to familiarize themselves with a certain
subject matter i can give them a bunch of questions just to learn as a
learning tool a graded quiz is probably the most common where is a quiz where the students are going to
be graded this is fully integrated with the grade book as soon as they finished the
grade will go directly there
a graded surveying
since there are not supposed to be any right answers in a survey this means
that if they have done the survey not they will get credit
an ungraded survey
is that their grade will not be affected by it
but I just want to know where they are in their opinion on something
you have a few options depending on which option you choose you can shuffle the
answers you can give a time limit
you can let the students see the quiz results as soon as they finish taking
the quiz you can allow multiple attempts keeping the highest or the latest
scores that they obtained
even with multiple attempts you can limit it if you'd like i can say limit it
to five attempts or not
if you'd like to proctor this exam and have the students take it
with a little bit more control of when they can
you can require an access code
you just merely put in a pass phrase that they would be required to know in order
to take the test
this is a good way like if you're taking quizzes in class
then you would set an access code and only give it to the students who came to to the course
uh... with any other assignment you can give it a due date
and then you can also lock this quiz that makes
sure that it's not available to students until a specific date and time
and then not available after a specific date and time as well
how ever you create these questions you can also preview the quiz to see exactly how
it will work
with the students
so you can create different questions
there's all the different question types with multiple choice and true false and
also an essay question essay questions of course cannot be
graded by the system but we use our speed grader in order to make that
grading of those questions more efficient
as you can see in this question type is that when you ask any question you
can incorporate any of the rich content available in any other place inside of
Instructure Canvas i can use my math equation editor to embed these
professionally laid out
equations I can also use my multimedia framework including images
or I could record directly off my webcam or provide a piece of sample video that i'd like them
as part of a question
that i'd like them to a evaluate
we also have the notion of questions groups
a group
is what you can setup maybe ten questions and say randomly select
two questions out of it and each student gets a unique quiz
they wont be taking the same one
ok so our quizzing tools used for
giving quizzes and tests online
you can use it as in teaching tool with ungraded quizzes
and also as a survey tool
and with any of the surveys or quizzes you can incorporate all the full
multimedia available in any other area of Instructure Canvas
