How to research different tropical fish is probably the hardest part in selecting a fish.
Hi, I'm Bruce from Aquatek in Austin, Texas, and today we're going to discuss how to research
different tropical fish. Of course the easiest and possibly the best way to do this is by
locating a local fish store in your area that's both knowledgeable and caring. If the only
thing that you can find is a place to purchase fish, and they don't care about answering
questions, then try these suggestions. One, the internet. There's a lot of informational
sites that don't necessarily sell livestock so they don't have a vested interest in selling.
Sites like thecrib.com or wetwebmedia.com are great informational sites and forum sites
like reefcentral.com or theplantedtank.net are useful in posting general and specific
questions to people that need that information. Secondly books. There's a lot of books out
there and reading is probably the best way to research fish or plant species. Books like
the Bench Atlas's or Castleman's Planted Aquarium, are great identification tools and basic care
guides. Of course there are specific guides to just about any group of species of fish
like fish from West Africa, literal species of Malawan Cichlids, anyway, that's the best
ways I can think of to research tropical fish. Until next time, I'm Bruce with Aquatek Tropical
in Ausin.
