Here's a second way of defending the round kick that I like. Especially for like MMA
or Shuto or something of that effect. You step in the same way as before. He throws
the kick, I step in, get my neck control, and over hook the leg. Then I go to inner
trip like Ouchi Gari in Judo. Trip the leg, push the shoulder. For street self defense
you're going to punch the groin once, slip the knee in to the shin here and do a spin
around knee bar here. You can trap it into your for a real good break on the street trap
it in the armpit and you've got his knee trapped in between your legs. And you can arch forward
to break the knee. So it's a round kick catch to a knee bar on the ground. So one more time
here. He steps in with the round kick, I step in and get my neck control. I've got the leg
trapped, step in for inner trip. Hop, Ouchi Gari here, groin punch, knee goes through,
knee bar right here, crack it there. On the street just break it. Knees tight, arch your
hips. Defending the round kick into a knee bar. Here's defending the round kick again.
You lift the arm up to defend in case it comes to the head, step forward with your right
leg at a forty five degree angle, that charges in, gets your distance closed and takes away
from the power of the kick, and gets you close enough to your opponent. Come to the head
and neck control. And then you're going to take a little hop and step in with the Ouchi
type throw on the support leg. Get your base, number one importance so you don't get dragged
down to the ground. Hit the groin, bring that knee through, and then spin around for the
knee bar, chop it on the armpit. We're taking both arms and finish it there. So that's how
to defend the leg kick, the round kick and go into a knee bar.
