Hey! Runners' Garden here. I am ten miles into a fourteen mile endurance run....
And when I started today it was raining. So I had one of these...A poncho....I looked
like a running banana, or a lemon or a yellow squash...
Running through the streets...But this thing kept me dry. I just put the hood part over
my hat and put it behind my ears so it wouldn't fill with wind and flap down....
Had to adjust it a couple of times but it worked well....
and that actually saved me a couple of weeks ago when I ran a half marathon...
I had one of these things in my pocket all folded up nicely...
and it started to rain pretty hard and I threw it on and it also helps to keep you warm so
that was good...
so what else....about running in the rain, you probably want to avoid the deep puddles
of course...
it's okay to have your feet a little bit wet I've found, but if your feet are soaked, that's
just asking for blisters. So you don't want to hit those big puddles...
While we are talkin' about yellow here, we might as well talk about bathroom breaks...
very important on your endurance runs...
I would say, for example, if you are going fifteen miles, instead of going seven and
a half miles out and seven and a half miles back,
maybe you want to do three loops of five miles, so that you can pass by your home or some
place that you know has a bathroom...
I like to use the public schools here in Taiwan, they all have bathrooms that are open (on
weekends) and what I do on my runs is go track to track...
I run around one schools track for a while and then hit some side streets to hit another
school and do a few more laps on those tracks...
And that way there is always a bathroom there if I need it...
so that's good...I want to give a shout out to my wife...
and she made this nice concoction here of, it's carrots that were getting a little bit
old...
Not too old. They were not rotten. But they were headed for the compost bin...
Took care of them and juiced them, and that's what she did...
She juiced the carrots and mix them with apples. I've been sipping on that all morning here...
Don't let rain get in the way of your run...Get one of these, in fact get a box of these things...
They are really cheap. You know just get out there and do your work...
It actually feels good running in the rain...
Alright, this is runners' garden signing off!
