What's up Attackers, Bethany here with MMO Attack's Daily XP. Today on the show we have
Mechanist Games losing steam, Microsoft punishing MMO fans with a paywall and SMITE introduces
competitive leagues. Let's jump right in.
So this is kind of big news for fans of the game City of Steam. I'll try to explain this
the best I can. Mechanist Games, the developer for City of Steam has come to the decision
to drop R2Games, the publisher for the English version of the game due to several circumstances
which, of course, were not fully divulged in the press release. What we do know is that
there has been a significant loss of players and Mechanist Games wants to take City of
Steam back, citing that they think it is best for the community and the game. City of Steam
will be taken offline for a few weeks while they update it with new changes, features
and content, and then will re-release, as a self-published title under a new name, City
of Steam: Arkadia. The good news is the game is not going away, but we'll have to see how
the titles fares once it's back online.
Some of you may be wondering why several free to play MMOs are being released on Playstation
4 and not for Xbox One. An interesting interview from Gaijin Entertainment, the creator of
the World War II aerial combat sim, War Thunder, discussed the main reason why their game,
and possibly others, is because of Microsoft forcing everyone to buy a Gold Membership
for multiplayer. Now how is that fair? Developers make a free to play game that they hope everyone
can enjoy, and Microsoft puts it behind their own pay wall, taking all the profit of a Gold
Membership for themselves? I for one think it's pretty bogus, but what are your thoughts?
Do you think Microsoft will change their minds or are they destined to be the money hungry
corporation we all know they are?
Laslty our weekly SMITE update has some pretty awesome content coming our way, including
the introduction of the highly anticipated SMITE League System. Now, I know this is something
I won't be participating in .. yet. If you've seen my livestreams you'll know why, BUT,
I do love the concept. Players will be able to participate in monthly leagues as long
as they complete at least 10 matches. The top and bottom 20% of players from each league
at the end of each season will be promoted and demoted respectively. The full details
on how the league system will work are link in our article below, so be sure to check
that out. And, find me on Twitch TV each and every Wednesday trying to get myself ranked
in SMITE, or at least, trying to get a single kill.
So today's keyword is microsoft, as in, microsoft sucks balls. Enter it at MMOAttack.com for
