Sometimes, making a good game is just a matter of mixing the right ingredients. It’s like
a spice rack, you know? Little bit of Nintendogs with a base of Endless Ocean. Throw in some
Trauma Center and a little side ***, and voila! It’s Dolphin Island: Underwater Adventures
for the Nintendo DS.
So if you’re wondering what the hell this game is, that’s because it only came out
in Europe. If you’re wondering where we got it, well...our home girl Felicity in the
UK is always sending us games, this being one of them.
If you’re wondering about the side ***, it’s right here.
Her name is Teva. She probably floats.
Because of her swimming abilities.
She’s a professional, you guys.
So it’s kind of a bummer that this game didn’t came out in the States, because it’s
actually pretty interesting. You play as a diver who ends up on a boat with a ginger
pirate for a captain. He has a luxurious red beard, just as I do. So you know he’s trustworthy.
Anyway, they sail all over the world to save sea animals.
From the Bahamas to the frigid Arctic to...Europe.
Hey, know how this game’s European? The box says “whilst.”
“I’d like to go swimming with Teva whilst she’s wearing naught but her trousers.”
So it generally works like this. There’s some kind of situation...a dolphin stuck in
a fishing net, a whale with a busted-up face. You have to dive down, find the animal in
peril and get ‘em fixed up. Actually, it’s exactly like Endless Ocean when it comes to
swimming—you just point with the stylus and go. Once you get to the animal, it’s
basically Trauma Center: The Underwater Edition. For children.
You know, clean the wound, wrap it...inject a tranquilizer.
There’s a pretty nice amount of content, too. There are eight different underwater
environments with more than 50 different species to find. You can also do the whole Endless
Ocean thing where you unlock information about the fish and take pictures. Frankly, if you
liked how chill Endless Ocean was, but you want more focus and a story...Dolphin Island
just what the marine biologist ordered.
It’s not a pretty as Endless Ocean. Or as good, but...that game didn’t show you side
*** whilst learning about...marine life. It’s Dolphin Island for the Nintendo DS.
