We are in the city of "three floors," Lamas, waiting for the representatives of our country to have a decentralized meeting.
We must say to the Congressmen visiting us today that the community of Lamas feels honored to have each one of you.
This is how the members of the Peruvian Congress's Executive Board were greeted, who Tuesday held a decentralized meeting in the city of Lamas.
The visiting legislators were delighted by the richness of crafts and gastronomy from the region.
(Daniel Abugattás, President of Congress) "Delicious. Very tasty".
(Manuel Merino, VicePresident of Congress) "Very good".
The principal topic of the work group was the analysis of the social and economic situation of San Martin, challenges and perspectives.
Regional authorities, local and district mayors, and civil society groups participated, who informed us about the reality of San Martin.
(Juan Manuel Iberico, President of "Moyobamba-Front Defense") "We want to make a public complaint. There are public works not completed and many that are late and fixed bids".
"The Control Committee should intervene in this Regional Government because there is high incidence of corruption".
(Lucinda Vela Vásquez, President of "San Martín-Front Defense") "Today, health in the province of San Martín is in a chaotic time".
(Salvador Campos Rodrigo, Province Mayor of Bellavista") "Mr. President of the Congress, I want you to support the regional president to improve the electrical system in San Martín".
-Reporter- "What are the plans for projects related to social inclusion?"
(Carmen Omonte Durand, Congresswoman) "We have always supported that social inclusion should not just be about existential issues, but rather it is fundamentally about productive development..."
"... which is what many regions need, especially those in the mountains and the jungle. This includes agrarian infrastructure, access to credit, and the capacity of society."
"While there is wealth division to this extent, we cannot talk about total inclusion".
-Reporter- "What are some of the laws for San Martín to continue as a green region?"
(Aldo Bardales, San Martín Congressman) "It is important here to start by addressing the Law on Forest Concessions".
"Review it and arrive at a good negotiation so that concession companies revise their activities that are under the Law".
(yehude Simon, Second Vice President of Congress) "I believe that San Martín is a pillar in the economic development of the country".
"From a region that everyone feared because of the political violence it had, today it is a region that everyone sees with lots of expectations".
In this decentralized session, they also analyzed situation of youth in the country. The topic of entrepreneurship for personal and social development of Peruvian youth stood out.
(Esther Capuñay, Congresswoman) "We are now working in Lima and later we may go to cities like San Martin, "
"Tarapoto to strengthen the development and entrepreneurial spirit. We will have forums on entrepreneurship".
With this type of working group taking place across the nation, Congress wants to establish a closer link with the population and authorities for communication.
Nonetheless, what the population really wants is not just that they listen to us, but they come to nail down their demands.
-Reporter- "How long will the population have to wait to have their proposals processed?"
(Manuel Merino, First Vice President of Congress) "They have to wait 15 business days. After those 15 business days, we will automatically provide a response."
"Consequently, I believe that those who provided documents are the ones that we process. It will be more difficult for us to be commit to those proposals without documents".
This is how the decentralized session of Congress in this region went, seeking to understand the reality of communities through their leaders.
