this is going to be a crochet hat and scarf
for a bottle of hot sauce
I will be using two colors of yarn
you can use as many colors as you would like
the pattern will easily adapt
to additional colors
the crochet hook size is H/5mm
we will start by attaching a slip knot to the crochet hook
take the loose end, wrap it over the main strand
now you have a loop
take the loop, wrap it over the main strand
put your hook below the center strand, back up the opposite side
this creates the slip knot
work a chain four
one
two
three
four
join with the beginning chain
chain one
work ten single crochet
working right through the center of the ring
one
two
three
four
Five
I am putting my hook right through the center
crocheting right over the chain
six
seven
eight
nine
ten
round two through six
will be one single crochet
in each single crochet around
for a total of ten
if you want to make the cap longer
this is where you would extend it
and add additional rounds
we will be working the continual round
this is so we do not have to join
putting your hook right through the first stitch
working the single crochet
one
two
three
four
five
six
seven
eight
nine
ten
that completes two rounds
you can see it is starting to curl up
continue on working round three
one single crochet in each stitch around
that is the first single crochet
two
three
four
five
six
seven
eight
nine
ten
this is what it looks like through round three
at this point, you may want to go ahead
and sew in the beginning tail
it will be easier to work it in at this time
I am going to make a little knot
then sew in the tail
cut off any extra yarn
continue with the three additional rounds
one single crochet in each stitch around
through round six
I have completed through round five
I have one more round to do for my sixth round
if you want to go ahead and change color
at any time throughout the first few rounds
work a slip stitch
I'll do that again
putting your hook through the next stitch
wrap the yarn over, pull through the top of the stitch
pull through the loop on your hook
wrap the yarn over one more time
cut, pull it on through and give it a tug
I am attaching a slip knot
to the crochet hook
I am putting my hook through in a different place
putting it right through the top of the stitch
like that
you can see there are two loops
wrap the yarn over the hook
pull through the stitch
and through the loop on the hook
and that joins the new color
and that is how you will join any color
any time that you want to change
you will joing it the same way
work a chain one
I am crocheting over the tail
working one single crochet
in each stitch around
for a total of ten
since I have crocheted over the tails
I am going to cut them off at this point
I am going to still work the continual round
working right through the top of the next stitch
working a single crochet
instead of joining
this round, which is round seven
will have two single crochet, in each stitch around
one, two
three, four
five, six
seven, eight
nine, ten
eleven, twelve
thirteen, fourteen
fifteen, sixteen
seventeen, eighteen
nineteen, twenty
this is what it looks like through round seven
at this point it is starting to flair out
round eight
will be one single crochet in one stitch
two single crochet in the next stitch
for the increase
one single crochet in the next stitch
two single crochet in the stitch after that
for the increase
there will be a total fo thirty single crochet on round eight
I have completed the thirty single crochet
through round eight
now I am going to work one single crochet
in each single crochet around
for a total of thirty on round nine
I have completed thirty single crochet
through round nine
I am going to change color again
so I am going to work a slip stitch
in the next stitch
you can change color at any point
and work any color combination
for your cap
I am going to attach the yarn
in a different place
on round ten
work a chain one
work an individual stitch
in the first two stitches
then work an increase of two
in the next stitch
there will be a total of fourty single crochet
on round ten
I have worked the first four
this will be five
six
I am crocheting right over the tail
this is the increase
seven, eight
individual stitches
nine
ten
and the increase
eleven, twelve
thirteen
fourteen
fifteen, sixteen
crocheting right over the other tail
seventeen
eighteen
nineteen, twenty
you will continue around
for fourty stitches
on round ten
round eleven
will be one single crochet in each stitch around
I am going to keep it going with the continual round
working one single crochet, in each stitch around
the brim on the cap will start to turn up
that is what it is supposed to do
I am back around to the beginning
I am going to work a slip stitch
to join
that evens off the round
cut the yarn
pull it on through and give it a tug
this completes the hat
I am going to go ahead
and sew the tail in
I like to skip over a stitch
and go back in the opposite direction
cut off the tail
for the scarf
we will attach a slip knot to the crochet hook
then work a chain of fourtyfive
once you get the chain of fourtyfive complete
you will work one single crochet
in each chain across
for a total of fourtyfour single crochet
you can make your scarf
as long as you want to make it
if you want to make it shorter than fourtyfive
it is still going to work
so it is up to you
how you want to personalize
your little bottle of tobasco sauce
through a little bit of modification
you can make this work
on other types of bottles as well
continue across
until you have your stitches complete
I have completed the first row
there are two things you can do at this point
depending on how you want
your colors to look
you can work a chain one
turn
work a single crochet
in the first single crochet
and in each stitch across
if you would like to carry the color
you will continue working across
for the remaining stitch on this row
I am back over to the opposite end
completing row two
what I am going to do is
wrap the yarn over
pull it through
cut the yarn and change color
you can attach a new color
for any color combination that you would like to do
if you want to do one row
two rows
three rows of your color combination
that is up to you
I have attached the slip knot
to my crochet hook
what I am going to do
is put my crochet hook
right below
the top of the first stitch
you can see the two loops right here
wrap the yarn around my hook
pull it through the stitch
and through the loop on my hook
like that
that secures the new color of yarn
work one single crochet
in each stitch across
you will continue working rows
for the width of your scarf
I have finished up this last scarf
it is a little bit larger
than the first one I made
you can make them as unique and different
as you would like to make them
this one I have added fringe
I am cutting little strands of yarn
approximately six inches - fifteen centimeters
then I will be attaching them to the end of the scarf
I am using this one as my measurement
I will be whipping them around
like this
they do not have to be exact
you will even them up a little later on
once you get them attached
when you get a few of them lined up
you want to cut the ends on them
like that
go to the opposite end
I am getting my crochet hook
folding the strand in half
this is where I changed the colors of yarn
I am not going to have to sew in the tails
these will work right in with the fringe
I am going to the opposite end
find a place
to put my hook right through
at the end like that
put the yarn over the hook
right at the halfway point
you can see the two ends are together
pull it through
wrap the yarn over
pull it through
give it a tug
it is nice and secure
to the end
you will continue attaching
in random places
I am going to cut up some yellow yarn as well
once you get all the fringe on
you can cut it off evenly, like this
we will do that on both ends
now I want to attach the scarf
to the bottle of hot sauce
I am going to align it like this
sew it from the inside
I am going to make a little knot
right here like this
continue securing
just a couple more times
it does nto have to be a lot
once you have got it secure
cut off the yarn
make a knot
sew in both tails
