Welcome to a new episode of Hartvoorautos.nl!
a program wherein I tell about my heart for cars
Like you all know; Audi launched their new A3, the A3 Sportback
A good looking car, I can tell you about the new features and the efficient 1.2 TFSI engine..
But I can also tell you about the former A3..
I mean the RS3 Sportback. In this episode I take you with me in the Audi RS3 Sportback
As you can see; the RS3 is pretty ''undercover''
Audi always manage to do that with the RS models
For my taste, the RS3 could be a bit more outstanding
Especially in this color, Daytone Grey, you see an Audi A3 with nice alloys, flared wheel arches...
But when you drive it, you will defenitely know you are in the best type of the A3
The owner of this car liked the sound of the 5 cilinder engine, which indeed sounds great
But it can always be better. That's why he added a Milltek exhaust sytem which sounds amazing. And that's what you want with an Audi RS3!
I will not fulfill my heart for cars if I didn't drive the best type of the A3.
The RS3 has a 2.5 TFSI, a 5 cilinder engine we know from the TT-RS
A great engine which sounds great, it is a beast
But I can imagine that are not satisfied by the stock 2.5 engine with 340Hp
Like this owner of this RS3 wasn't satisfied yet
It was fast but it doesn't give you a kick
The car went to JD Engineering, who gave this car 435Hp and 612Nm torque
That's promising!
I think we have talked enough about the beautiful Audi RS3 with that undercover appereance
It is time to drive!
This is what they call a hothatch!
It is a pretty compact car with a lot of power: hot!
There are a lot of car in this segment; like the BMW M135i...
Or a Ford Focus RS or a VW Golf R
But is this RS3 the best? That's what we are going to find out today
The engine is great, that's for sure, it sounds just amazing
That combined with the S-Tronic gearbox with the double clutch
The gearchanges are very quick, especially with the JD Engineering tuning and the Milltek exhaust...
... It is the the cherry on the cake
The Audi RS3 can do a launch control and it sounds like this!
With the launch control you can accelerate very fast. I am now going to show you how to do it
You put him in ''S'', the sport mode, you turn off the traction control
You keep your foot on the brakes, you rev it up, it will stay on 2500rpm
Release the brakes and...
I heard a lot about the steering of the RS3, which would be insensitive
The steering isn't the best, when you steer you have to make a whole turn with your steering wheel
And that's not what you expect, you want it do be direct and sensitive
And now I am driving it, I can confirm those things
But you have to understand that this isn't a sportscar, it is just a very fast Audi A3
It isn't made for track use all day long
With a very thight steering, that would be nice when this is your daily car
We can talk about the 0 - 100 times....
But it is better if I just show you, do you count?
100! Yes, that is very quick! 0:06.35.000,0:06:45.000 He can bring the power to the road very good thanks to the quattro drive
But this quattro is a bit different than the quattro drive in other RS types
We know this system from the VW systems
At VW they call it 4motion. The disadvantage of the 4motion, the quattro in this RS3...
Is that the most power is send to the front wheels, and when the front wheels loose traction..
The send power to the rear wheels
It can be dangerous, because the car gets a bit understeer
We must be happy with those rear wheels!
The front wheels can't take all the power of 435hp
Stock; 340hp, I don't know if that make a lot of difference
But I get quite a lot a traction control sign lighting up when I am in a fast corner
Well, now we are in the RS3, and what do we think of it?
It is quite a good car, this is the car you want on a daily base
You take the BMW for track use and the you take the Ford to the forest!
Which one is the best? I don't judge about that, I know that this RS3 is very good!
