bjbj Orillia's garbage bag program is a waste reduction measure used to encourage you to
recycle and composting. In Orillia the easiest way to tag a bag is to wrap around the top
of the bag to form a flag such as this. You can also place your garbage container such
as this. Maximum size is 133 liters. Place your garbage tag on the topmost item inside
not on the garbage bin lid. Each household is mailed a set of 30 garbage tags per year
at the end of May for the tag year running July 1st of the first year to June 30th of
the next year. This works out to about a tag every other week. If you use these tags up
before the next allotment is sent, you will need to purchase additional tags. These tags
can be purchased at City Hall located at 50 Andrew Street South, the Waste Diversion Site
located at 100 Kitchener Street, and various retailers in town. See our website for a full
list of retailers Orillia's green bin program is meant to recycle things like food scraps, old apples, old grapes,
fruits, vegetables, bread, pasta, rice, house plants, soiled tissues, tissue paper and things
like that. We don't take meat and dairy but we take everything else. Place in your kitchen
container in a certified compostable bag when its full tie it up or place it in your green
bin for curbside collection set out beside your garbage. We have co-collection trucks
in Orillia, so although it may look like your garbage and green bins are being put in the
same truck all mixed together; there are actually two different hoppers on those trucks that
keep the garbage and green bin organics separated. When that green bin and garbage arrive at
our waste diversion site, the garbage is dropped off in one area and the compostable green
bin material are dropped off at another area and are composted. phZZZ [Content_Types].xml
