My name's Sandeep Garchan, I'm from Tipton and I'm studying
Business Computing and IT. Now that I've left Aston,
I've recently joined Cap Gemini and I'll be doing a graduate technology role with them.
I think initially from first year, I think I've
grown so much, especially with the industrial year, the placement year that we experienced.
Just in terms of confidence,
meeting new people, developing core skills that you need in the workplace and
not only that, it's been an enjoyable experience as well,
so it's been a nice development over the last four years, from
my perspective - as an individual - you know, growing up, becoming a mature adult...
I worked at West Bromwich Building Society for my placement
where my role was as a data analyst
for the year, And I really enjoyed that. It was part of a sandwich year
because obviously my course was BCIT
and we had to have one year out where it was compulsory for us to do a year's experience
but I'm so glad that I did that placement year because it's helped me so much, not only developed me much more as a person
but also helped me to get the graduate job that I've got currently.
It's helped me prepare in terms of... it's helped me in terms of skills that I've developed
that I can take with me when I start a new career, my new jobs in the future.
And - yeah - just... in terms of all the skills, all the
people that I've met, all the advice that I've been given
and it's really helped me to plan my future and know exactly what route I want to go to.
Oh, the highlights? I's really hard to pinpoint something that's been a highlight.
I think for me, just meeting so many different people, so many nice people, meeting my friends
I've got those friends for life, hopefully now.
and not only that but Placement Year I really enjoyed and I think that
it's something about Aston Business School they... they really focus on employability
and they look at ways in which they'll help you to progress,
and to achieve your goals and not just get a degree but also help you after your degree,
to actually get yourself into a graduate role or a job or whatever else you want to go into, so...yeah!
