Ahh... Hey everybody out there in the big wide world, welcome to my channel. I'm Alex.
I'm in a comfy chair. I hope you're in a comfy chair. Let's hang out. Today, I am going to
show you a little instrument called a melodica. The melodica is a little like a piano you
see, 'Cuz all the notes sorta correspond with the white keys and blacks keys of the piano.
Except, instead of the piano, you blow air into it through the mouthpiece and then there
are these brass reeds in there that when you blow air over them,
they vibrate and make this really cool sort of organ-like sound. I first bought my melodica
because of Charlie McDonnell or "charlieissocoollike" and he used it in one of his Doctor Who songs
and it was such a cool sound. I really like it because it sounds like a whole bunch of
instruments sort of combined into one. It sort of sounds like an accordion, a harmonica
and it can just do a lot of different jobs. So I think I might actually try making some
music with it in the future. If you want one for yourself just Google this name here. "Hohner"
is the brand they make accordions and they're a German music company I'm not really sure
if they sell them online but I know you can get them online. Mine cost thirty dollars,
just as a frame of reference. That's thirty U.S. dollars. And this is the Alto melodica,
there's also a Soprano melodica which just means that the notes are higher pitched. You
can also get melodicas that actually look like pianos. Instead of this mouthpiece at
the end, you have a little tube that comes out the end and sticks in your mouth. And
then you play like that, which can be helpful because then you can play it with your hands
instead of holding it up and play it more like a clarinet or something.
Anyway, that's all for today--if you have any requests about what I should play on this
melodica, then leave them down there in the comments if not, then thanks for watching
and I'll see you tomorrow.
