Male Speaker: Two minute tips from onemorecupof-coffee.com.
Nathaniel Brenes: Hi, my name is Nathaniel and this is Two Minute Tips with
One More Cup of Coffee. Today we're going to talk about an author
bio plug-in that I use on my website and I use it on a couple of different websites.
It's one of my favorites. There are quite a few different options
here and some come native to theme, some are plug-ins that you can install into
your Word Press site. This one is my preferred one just because
it seemed the easiest to set up and had lots of customization options that I liked
and you can see this live at onemorecupof-coffee.com. I have a couple of different authors
there that you can also check out.
A couple of features is it gives you these nice little buttons down here to link to
your social media site so if someone sees Author: Nathaniel they think "Oh,
that guy's really handsome, I want to see him on YouTube" so when they click on my
YouTube link it takes them to my YouTube page.
Or if they want to know about my interesting life they can click over to my
Twitter page. If they think "Okay, well I want to see
what else this guy has to say, he's really smart" they can click this little icon
here and it will take them to my author bio. The other thing I like about this plug-in
is that it connects with Google Plus and allows multiple Google Authorship statuses
for your website so for example if we go to rich snippets - okay, I wrote this one
so if I paste that in there you'll see my little picture shows up.
Let's grab someone else's - okay, you can see here Dom wrote this so if I paste
Dom's link in there - there you go - even though it's my website Dom wrote the
article so his picture shows up. And we're going to do one more - Casey
wrote this one and look at that - Casey shows up.
So that is another really cool thing about this plug-in.
Let's take a quick look inside the plug-in.
Once it's installed go to General,
you can see things like Background Color, what you want to name your author, Avatar size,
and choice of social media sites that you give authors on your site.
They've also got short codes, they've got the ability to have you add your own
social icon so if you're on some social media site that's not listed and then you
can also change some advanced settings for the HTML or CSS of the plug-in to make it
your own. So the name of the plug-in - let's check
it out - it's called Social Author Bio, it's by a guy named Nick Powers,
the website is nickpowers.info/wordpress-plugins/social-author-bio
so you can check that out.
I hope you found this tip useful.
Getting multiple authors on your website is a great way to get more traffic
and get some variety on your website. Don't forget to check out my website at
onemorecupof-coffee.com and I'll see you in the next video.
