Dr. Holly with Choices Unlimited for Health and Wellness continuing the myths and misconceptions
series. I don't know if you'd really call this as myths and misconceptions as people
having very strong ideas about whether you should be vegan, be vegetarian, have a catatonic
diet, ketogenic diet. Or whether you should abide by the act in diet, etc., etc., etc.
I think all of the diets are good for certain situation or for certain metabolism, depending
your genetic structure. Different bodies require different things. A great example that we
have forever is the Eskimos. They have a huge diet focused predominantly on fats, animal
fats and yet have great cholesterol levels.
Their genetic structure was orchestrated to deal with the food they have at hand. Oriental
societies, many of the oriental ancient societies as well have probably 80% of the Indian, these
Indian societies have a predominantly vegetarian diet and that works well for them. European
and North American have an awful lot of meat, probably way too much meat and yet we do have
to take into consideration whether or not that meat is getting hormone injections, whether
it's getting proper feed. Are they grazing like they should. If we were to eat healthy,
good meats, that's probably best for our kind of genetic structure.
Is it across all genetic cultures should have the same diet? Not necessarily. You're going
to have fluctuations in that as well. Another one is the raw food diet that people engage
in today. Look at TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine as well as Western
Alternative Medicine. We find that the raw food diet is actually unhealthy for many types
of metabolisms. It's very bad especially for some. But again, the same rule does not go
across everybody.
Find yourself a good health practitioner who can determine the best diet protocol for your
system, for your genetic profile, for your metabolism so that you're getting the best
benefit you can from the food that you eat. Dr. Holly. Here's to your health.
