I welcome All of you with the Islamic greetings Assalamu Alaikum WA Rahmatullahi WA Barakatuhu.
The topic of my speech is "An Ideal Muslim". Who is an IDEAL PERSON? What is the meaning
of the word IDEAL? Who should be our IDEAL? How can we become IDEAL in this present world?
I shall, In Sha Allah, clear all this in my speech.
According to OXFORD DICTIONARY, the word IDEAL means "a thing or a person, regarded as perfect."
So, we can say that an ideal Muslim is a person who is perfect in all the spheres, aspects
of his life, i.e. in his public life, private life, religious life, school life etc. All
these qualities can only be seen in our Last and Final Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).
As I started my speech with the verse of the Holy Quran, of Surah Ahzab, Chapter no. 33,
verse no. 21 is said "There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah (saw)
an excellent pattern, for anyone who has hope in Allah and the Last Day and who remembers
Allah often."(33:21). In other words, He (SAW) is the Ideal for
us, Muslims. But sorry to say that today's world, including the Muslim youth, has taken
the worldly personalities as their IDEAL. Are these "IDEAL PEOPLE" perfect? Do they
have the best character? As narrated in a Hadith, in which the Prophet (SAW) has said,
"The best among you is the one has the best character."(Quoted by Sahih Al-Bukhari). Our
Ideal should be the one who is the best, which is our prophet (SAW) itself. Also in this
present world we can become IDEAL by making our character good and like the Prophet (SAW).
For making our character good we must first gain knowledge. Now let us see the beautiful
character of an Ideal Muslim. First of all an Ideal Muslim is a firm believer
in Allah. He is not deviated by Shaitan. He does all what Allah and his Prophet (SAW)
has said. Once a companion asked the Messenger of Allah (SAW) about the best deeds. He (SAW)
replied: 1) To offer prayer at their perfect times. 2) To obey your Parents. 3) To do Jihad
in the way of Allah. This Hadith shows the characters of the Ideal person regarding deeds.
Also in Surah Israa, chapter no.17, verse no.23-24,
"23.And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment.
Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much
as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.
24. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy
upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small. "
These are the qualities of Ideal Muslim regarding character towards parents. Other qualities
also include visiting the sick, attending the funeral, spreading peace calling others
to truth and forbidding evil, all for Allah's sake. He is truthful, does not lie and is
noble and humble. He is concerned about his private, public as well as spiritual cleanliness.
These are the teachings of our Prophet (SAW). In his school life he is Ideal to his friends.
He is loved by his parents and his teachers. He is good in his academics as well as in
other activities (not necessary for an Ideal Muslim). These were some of the characters
of an Ideal Muslim. As I said earlier that to make our characters good we must have knowledge
about the Prophet (SAW)'s character. The best Book from which we can learn this is the GLORIOUS
QURAN. Once a companion asked the Mother of Believers, Aisha (RA): What was the personal
character of the prophet (SAW)? She replied: "His character was Quran." So, I would like
to conclude my speech by asking Allah to give us the guidance to help and guide us to read,
understand, follow and spread the word of Quran to others and do the work of enjoining
good and forbid evil. Ameen. WA Akhiru Da'wana Anil Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil
A'alamin Was Salmu Alaikum WA Rahmatullahi WA Barakatuhu.
