Hi my name is Lucy Spain on behalf of Expert Village here to talk about an introduction
to cheerleading. Now that we've completed our tryout process, it's really important
to find out how the team is going to be posted. This process is usually going to take about
two or three days. I know it's going to be agonizing waiting to find out, but it takes
that long for the judges to just go over, get together, because everyone's going to
have different scores for each person. So before you leave the tryout, it's really important
to find out where and how this material is going to be posted. A lot of times the teams
will be posted on sheets of paper at the location of the tryouts. Now it's not going to be posted
by your name. It's really important to remember which number you had on while you were in
front of the judges, because a lot of teams are going to post by numbers, just so nobody's
feelings get hurt. It's also really important if you're going to go to a posting to go by
yourself. I know we all want to go with our friends and take people with us, but it just
gets into hurt feelings and let downs if you go with somebody and they make it and you
don't or vice versa. So it's always just best to go alone, and be prepared. We can also
find out how we made the squad by phone or email. A lot of times you're going to want
to give coaches a cell phone number, a home number, the most appropriate way to reach
you. This way they can call and give a phone call and say they would like to invite you
to join our squad. Sometimes after they do this they'll have everybody get together so
you can meet who else made the squad. It's just important to make sure you're professional
about it. Be ready for a let down. Not everybody can always make the team. So in case you don't
make it, just be ready. You can ask for your score sheets. This is really going to help
you if you want to continue to pursue cheerleading. You can get those score sheets, find out where
you were lacking, and go ahead and be ready for next year.
