Hi, it's Amy, your Western Direct interactive host.
Today, we're here in Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan,
with Eric the general manager of the Manitou Springs Resort and Mineral Spa.
We want to know a little bit Eric, of the history behind the spa. What can you tell us?
-Well, the spa just celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.
We had a 3 day gala. And, 25 years ago the old pool burnt down, and the people who were in the area
realized that there was nobody coming here all of a sudden.
And, so they had to do something about it. They got together and sourced capital,
from individuals, financial institutions and government, and build the new spa.
It has gone strong ever since. It's now in private hands, since about 10 or 12 years ago.
The spa is somewhere people come to feel good. At Manitou Beach you feel good.
It's the water. They come for the water because the water is very therapeutic in terms of relaxation.
And, in terms of joints, people with arthritis come and experience no pain for the first time in years,
because of the weightlessness when you float.
You can't sink in the water, so you float and it takes all of the pressure off.
It's a place of peace, and tranquility.
People come here often for the first time and then they stay and buy a place, that's happened many times.
This area is unique to the world, there's only three places in the world that have this type of water:
The Dead Sea, and Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic.
And, we are very fortunate and we are marketing now very strongly to say
this is a therapeutic place, not only for the body but for the soul and mind as well.
It's a peacefulness that people experience here -- it's something that can't be explained.
It's a feeling. -Wow!
One of only 3 in the world, folks. You've got to come on down to Manitou Beach!
