Hello and welcome to My Weekly Geekery, the show in which I talk about what's been
going on in my geeky world over the past seven days.
In excellent news the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, the YouTube-based Pride and Prejudice
adaptation has won an Emmy.
It is the juried winner for original interactive program at the Creative
Arts Emmys in the field of digital media programming, so huge
congratulations to
everyone involved. Also the DVD of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries should be released in
the next month or so so I can't wait for that.
In other Vlogbrothers-adjacent news the The Fault in Our Stars movie has begun
filming.
John Green, author and Vlogbrother, has been sharing photos from the set.
The movie is due to be released in 2014 and I can't wait to see it.
Good news for UK-based Joss Whedon fans: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is to be shown on Channel 4
in the UK
Channel 4 is one of the channels that pretty much the entirety of the UK can
get so that is
excellent news. Also the DVD of Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing
is to be released on October 7th in the UK,
October 8th in the US, I believe, so not long to wait for that.
In last week's Weekly Geekery I mentioned
that Shakespeare's Globe's touring production of the 3 Henry VI plays were being
live streamed
all over the world on the Internet. That event has now happened.
There was some quite major weather conditions that the poor cast had to
put up with
and the livestream had a few technical problems, especially during the first
part, but those were solved by the
end. The first part of Henry VI is now available for you to see
online on-demand so I have but the link below if you would like to do that.
Finally, Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman opposite Henry Cavill as
Superman in the upcoming Superman sequel. I'm going to wait until its release in 2015
before I decide whether or not Ben Affleck is a good Batman, but I'm hopeful because he's
grown into a pretty good actor over the past few years.
Also it is currently rumoured on the internet that Bryan Cranston is to play
Lex Luthor in that film but as I say it is just a rumour and it hasn't been
officially announced
so it might be completely wrong. So in conclusion,
Patience is a virtue.
This has been My Weekly Geekery. Stupid patience.
