I'm Victor, Choi-wo Ma the Artistic Director of Y-Space and
also the curator of "Dance and Multi Media-
Improvisation Research Week". (Dance Research Week)
It is my pleasure to introduce and explain to you
the concept of this Dance Research Week.
As matter of fact,
there are a lot of different types of dance in Hong Kong,
including all kinds of dance exam classes and the applications
or those are already doing very well.
However, there is always lack of space in the development and
research of new dance, particularly in the area of research and archive.
Hence, we arrange this Dance Research Week,
hoping to explore new possibilities in dance, but
I don't know what will really come up with this Dance Research Week.
As you know that a series of "Improvisation Land"
and improvisations have been held by Y-Space in the past.
This time, the Dance Research Week will be extended to a week.
Artists from the field of dance to different media,
including music, video and lighting were invited.
During the week of research, they will work and collaborate in
Y-Space Dance Studio. instead of behind the closed door,
But this time thing will be open and shared to the public
as we will broadcast the entire Dance Research Week online for free.
As you know most artists will not open their research and
creation process to the public.
Audiences and the public will not know
what the artists doing in the dance studio.
Therefore, the most special thing of this Dance Research Week is:
We will upload the whole process live online,
all you need to do is to enter our website, press the button,
then you can see our whole research process.
In each day of the Dance Research Week,
we will have some specific themes to discuss or to focus on.
Artists will be responsible for some workshops and
a thematic discussion. They will discuss, explore and research but
what exactly can be done toward this direction?
What stimuli and sparks would be made out
while gathering different media artists? It is open...!
As artists always create works and performance, but
we also need to absorb nutrition through "jamming" or "crashing" with
different media artists so as to enlighten and to create new inspiration.
Therefore, the Dance Research Week is very important to us.
Who will participate in this Research Week?
Let me take the list and read them to you:
