This is a brief tutorial for new advancepath academy teachers
Each day you will sign in to the apex homepage
It allows access to your students online curriculum
This is the page you will see when you log in every day
Username is your academy number
The first four letters of your last name
And the first two digits of your first name
Password is unique to every user
This is the apex homepage
Let's focus on the tabs in the upper left side of the page
The Home tab lists all the classes your academy offers
Click on the pencil icon to check enrollment
The list at the top shows students enrolled
The list at the bottom shows all the students in your academy
To enroll a student click on the word enroll
To take a student out of a class just click withdraw
Let's look at the next tab called grade book
Use the select classroom drop down menu for the list of classes
Choose the class title you want to view
Let's look at junior english semester one
Every class in divided into units
You can see there are two students enrolled at this time
Neither of these students has completed the class entirely
We will take a more detailed look at scores later on
The next tab is labeled discussions
Every class has teacher scored discussion threads
If I click on the class title i can see all discussion posts
Choosing the threaded view helps me choose my student
I can easily see my student's posts and grade them accordingly
If I hit reply i can respond to any student's post
Let's check out the reports tab
The button you will use most is called student summary
You select the student you want to check up on
This shows the list of classes a student is in or has completed
A click on the class title will reveal a printable document
This documents every assignment in the class and completion dates
It can be used as a kind of progress report
Students can access and print this also
The classrooms tab repeats previous information in a different format
The only new information in students is their passwords
Now let's take a look at the announcements box
When students log in they will see announcements
It may be an announcement from the curriculum provider
Or it may be a teacher generated announcement
Here is one reminding students to print double-sided to save paper
Any teacher can create an announcement
It can be for all students or students enrolled in a certain class
This has been a brief overview of the apex homepage functions
